Important Jail Policies and Procedures:

Inmates at the Mississippi County Jail are allowed visitation with family and friends. All visitors must be 18 years old and present a photo ID. Each inmate is allowed two visitors per visit.

Visitation for male inmates are from 8am to 11:30am on Saturdays and Sundays. Inmates with last names beginning with A through M have visitation scheduled on Saturdays while those starting with N through Z have visitation on Sundays. Visitors must be signed in no later than 11am.

Visitation for female inmates are from 1pm to 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors can visit on either day and must be signed in no later than 1:30pm.

Bail and Bondsman

The court requires bail, a certain amount of money, to be lodged with them before they grant temporary release to a defendant. This money is used to ensure that the defendant complies with all of the court’s requests while he is out of jail. If the defendant violates the conditions of his release, the bail is forfeited.

A defendant who cannot pay the bail can still get released from jail with the help of a bondsman. The bondsman charges 12% of the bail as his non-refundable fee. Once hired, the bondsman can sign a bond with the court that makes him responsible for paying the entire amount if the defendant jumps bail.
