If you miss a court date, then your money will be forfeited. A bondsman is a person who can post bail on behalf of a defendant for a fee. This kind of service is usually used by defendants who cannot afford to pay the bail on their own. The bondsman’s fee is usually 12% of the bail amount. This cannot be refunded.
