The County Recorder of Deeds is the certified keeper of all public records for the County. The responsibilities are preserving records relating to Real Property, Recording of Deeds, Mortgages, Easements, Agreements, Financing Statements, Subdivision Plans, and Miscellaneous Real Estate Documents. The Recorder of Deeds office serves as an agent for the Department of Revenue to collect realty transfer tax and distribute it to state, municipalities and school districts. Besides, the Office also records commissions, bonds and notary publics as well as military discharges.
