Service and Responsibilities:

The Court of Common Pleas is a trial court of general jurisdiction resolving controversies involving a wide variety of cases. It represents seven judges who comprise the Board of Judges and the two senior judges. The judges preside over matters such, adult and juvenile prosecutions, civil disputes involving property or money, divorce, custody, child support, adoptions, trusts and estates, guardianships, administrative hearings and appeals from decisions of the eight Magisterial District Judges in Beaver County.

Services and Responsibilities:

The Clerk of Courts is the chief custodian of the criminal records, responsible for matters of a criminal nature. The services provided by the Clerk of Courts include; Processing of expungements, Bail bonds, Microfilming and archiving all records, Collection of all Court imposed fines, costs, and restitution, and distributing those collections to Beaver County, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and Municipalities. Besides, the Court also processes fingerprint cards for individuals applying for a Private Detective License or a Private Detective. Furthermore, The Clerk of Court also handles record searches for the municipal police departments, the Pennsylvania State Police, outside government agencies, and the Department of Public Welfare.

The Recorder of Deeds Office’s primary responsibility is to record and maintain accurate and complete records related to real estate transactions such as Deeds, Sheriff Deeds, Tax Claim Deeds, Mortgages, Assignments, Satisfactions, Releases, Agreements, Restrictive Covenants, Leases & Installment Land Contracts, Agricultural Areas, Clean & Green, Notary Bonds, Public Official Bonds and Commissions. Besides, the Recorder’s Office also provides Filing & Certifying Veteran Discharges, Certifying recorded documents, Installation and Oath of Office for Pennsylvania Notaries, Collection of Pennsylvania Realty Transfer Tax, Collection and Disbursement of the Local Municipality and School District Taxes, Collection of County Record Improvement Funds, Collection of the Affordable Housing Program funds for low-cost housing in Beaver County, and Collection of the Access to Justice Funds for the State Judicial System.
