Pulaski county was established in 1839 and was named for Count Casimir Pulaski, who served in George Washington’s arm during the Revolutionary War. He was an exiled nobleman from Poland. After he joined the army in 1777 he quickly became a brigadier general and chief of cavalry in the Continental Army. He was killed in action in Savannah and died in October 1779
