Piedmont is an area of the state runs through the middle of the state for nearly 190 miles at the North Carolina border. Ad it continues north into central Maryland, and southeast Pennsylvania.
Farmville has its county seat in Prince Edward and is home to both Longwood University and is the nearest town to Hampden Sydney College. The town was formed in 1798 and later incorporated in 1912. Several sites here are registered on the National Register of Historic Places, including: First Baptist Church, Farmville Historic District, Longwood House, Robert Russa Moton High School, Sayler’s Creek Battlefield and Worsham High School.
Farmville gained notoriety when the Presidential Debates took place at Longwood University in October 2016. High Bridge is another historic location and High Bridge Trail State Park is a great family location.
