The population of the county was 20,920 based on the records shown by the census in 2010 and the county seat is South Blend. The county was formed from the Oregon Territory Government in 1852 and the total area is 1,223 square miles. The county office have departments that care for its citizens. These departments are probation, Sheriff’s office, attorney, auditor, and emergency management.

The Sheriff’s office gets an inter-agency cooperation that it receives from agencies under law enforcement that are operational within the county. There are mutual aid agreements that exist in the Raymond Police Department, Long Beach Police Department, South Bend Police Department, and Shoalwater Bay Tribal Dance.
