Services and Responsibilities:

The District Court of Thurston County has limited jurisdiction over criminal misdemeanor cases, gross misdemeanor cases, infraction, small claims, traffic and non-traffic infractions, name change, civil cases for damages of $100,000.00, anti-harassment protection orders, and small claims civil cases of $10,000. Besides, the Thurston County District Court also holds Mental Health Court and Veterans Court.

Services and Responsibilities:

The County Clerk is an elected official, also titled as Clerk of the Courts, responsible for the administrative and financial functions of the Superior Court. The responsibilities include Receiving and processing all legal documents and exhibits filed in superior court cases, along with other records required by statute; filing, updating, maintaining, and archiving court records; attending and making a record of all court hearings and trials; summoning and processing all superior court proceedings; entering all judgments and processing all appeals from court decisions; receipting and disbursing trust funds, support and restitution payments; providing assistance to victims of domestic violence; providing customers with mandatory forms packets in domestic relation case types; and collecting fees for filings and other services. Furthermore, the Clerk also serves as Quasi-judicial Officer and Justice System Administrator, providing services such as issuing writs, subpoenas, and other court-related orders as well as records storage, retrieval, and disposal of documents, records and exhibits; and of the collection, accounting, and investment of court monies.
