Important Jail Policies and Procedures:

Inmate visitation at the Klamath County Jail for those housed in general population is on Saturdays and Sundays. Inmate workers are allowed an extra day of visitation on Wednesday evening. All visitors must call the jail on the day they wish to visit between the hours of 8am and 11am to schedule an appointment. The number is 541-883-4197 and press “2” for visitation, then select “2” to schedule the visit.

All visitors must be in modest attire. Anyone who has been incarcerated in the jail within a six-month period prior to the visit will not be allowed to visit an inmate here. All visitors must present picture identification. Minors will only be allowed to visit if the inmate has requested a “Special Visit” that has been pre-approved by a sergeant. Only one “Special Visit” per month is allowed. All personal belongings must be left in the visitor’s vehicle.

A person accused of a crime in Oregon can pledge 10% of the total bail amount which is known as security. Bail as well as security is used as collateral to ensure that the accused will show up in court as promised.

If a judge is opposed to grant a defendant release through personal recognizance or conditional release, he will set a bail amount that must be paid. This amount will be determined by the severity of the crime, the criminal record of the accused, and his ties to the community.
