  1. Meagan Oakes says:

Presley is over the top, everyone incarcerated or not deserves respect and decency. If she gets disrespected then her attitude might at least be warranted…. but for her to speak to any and everyone, every single time even the very first, and have an attitude and ego that makes you feel like you are less than Is uncalled for. I’ve been in many jails over the last 13 years due to my addiction unfortunately… Brunswick County was the worst by far as far as the amount of time being locked down and no access to outside rec. There are no resources for things like outside rec and mass movement and job opportunities to make the time move. With that being said physiologically the amount of confinement time there esp with the Covid lockdown is hard enough on a person without having an egotistical narcissistic sociopathic guard with a lack of compassion and need for imaginary personal control running loose all day. the women are already stripped to bare minimum and control is gained when offenders get booked. Lol I got bonded out last Monday and it was her shift. she serves breakfast on top tier and and by the time she goes down the steps out of the pod and into the control room she comes over the cell intercom and says time for cell clean up 😂😂 I asked her if she realized we had just gotten our tray 2/3 minutes ago and she asked if I had an attitude and I told her no ma’am what I had was a desire to eat before I thought about much less started to clean a toilet she replied my attitude was out of line and for us to get started with cell clean up. After this I couldn’t catch a break and that’s fine my skin is thick plus I knew it was coming bc it all boils down to her being extremely sensitive. When she has any type of confrontation with an offender and shortly after she sees them go to kiosk she will ask over intercom if they’re writing a grievance on her…. that alone is her guilty conscience bc she is aware her behavior is out of line. The other 2 guards on that shift hopefully aren’t getting bullied by her hopefully superiors pay attention Presley was off sat and sun and those other 2 guards seemed more comfortable than I witnessed any time I saw them. My point in all of this is that I would hate to see a women, no matter her offense, be physiologically hurt or affected by this women’s narcissistic and clearly insecurity driven behavior. Recidivism is already ridiculously high- decreasing that number should be the goal and for that to be done everyone from the Judge to the offender needs a certain amount of compassion and grasp on healthy accountability and all interactions should be driven by rehabilitation. I don’t wish job loss on her, I am more mature, accountable and concerned with her being sat down for a conversation about what her intentions are other than a pay check. that job isn’t a show up for pay check job. it’s an admirable job bc of the dangers it can pose some offenders are intentionally malicious and situations there can escalate quickly so signing up, completing and following through with that career path is commendable to say the least. With that being said a desire to see an offender and be able to make a healthy difference with the hope of never seeing them again in that setting should play a major roll in this career choice. I am very intelligent, mature and have spent more time being a productive member of society than the time I’ve spent in active addiction battling my disease and suffering my consequences. I have many proclivities as does everyone else and I can circumvent my situations into good or bad. I worked at Department of Corrections in VA under Harold Clark who runs DOC in VA… I have been on the front lines of both sides. I hope whoever is reading this can see how genuine this concern is. I hope there’s no worry with sparing feelings, embarrassment or fear to speak up and I hope there’s a desire to see Presley become a better Presley.. a Presley that makes a difference. And hell talk to all COs about intentions and interactions and the effects they have. I hope I haven’t wasted my time but even if I have my heart, concern and intention is in the right place I will always speak up for the bullied and Presley is usually the type I’m speaking up against. Oh yea and offenders get 3 meals a day.. period.. cell compliance is wrong and mind control. Getting up and standing at the door in order to ensure tray coming is wrong. I’m not sure how that’s been gotten away with y’all.. come on. That’s too much.
