Inmate Search in Cape May County Jail

The Cape May County Correctional Center posts a Weekly Arrest Report Online. This daily listing of all the inmates in the custody of the Cape May County Correctional Center will contain the following information: inmate’s name, age, inmate ID, committed date, committing authority, charges, detainer amount, detainer, and bail amount.

Important Jail Policies and Procedures:

The Cape May County Correctional Center has an online visitation program in place for its inmates. Using Securus Technologies, family and friends can visit on-site or remotely. To visit an inmate, you will need to register on the Securus Technologies website. Once registered, visitors can now schedule remote visits 7 days a week, from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm (except from from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.). Each inmate is allowed 3 remote visits per day.

In order to schedule an on-site visit, you need to call the Cape May County Correctional Center at 609-465-1233 between 7:00 am and 10:00 am the day before the Inmate’s designated on-site visiting day. On Fridays, the the times are 7:00 am to 12:00 noon. A caller can add 2 other visitors to the visit as long as all of them are on the inmate’s approved visiting list.

Take note that on-site visitation is subject to availability. Space is limited. Each visitor is allowed one on-site visit per day. Minors need to be listed on the inmate’s visiting list, accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and be a blood relative or legally related to the inmate. Visits are only 20 minutes in length each.

Visitors need to arrive 20 minutes prior to their scheduled visit. All visitors need to go through a metal detector and present a government-issued ID with a picture, date of birth, and current address.

Bail and Bondsman

If a person is charged with an illegal offense in Cape May County, he may or may not be detained while awaiting trial depending on his score on a risk assessment tool. Instead of a cash bail system, the state of New Jersey has implemented a new bail system. In this new system, a defendant’s information such as his criminal history is entered into a risk assessment tool which uses an algorithm to try to predict the defendant’s future actions – how likely is it that he will harm the community or run away from the trial. A high score will a high likelihood of either fleeing or committing another crime which means the defendant will be detained. A low score will suggest to the judge that the defendant may be relied upon to stay in the area for his trial and will not commit another crime. In this case, he may be released on his own recognizance.
