Sex Offender Search and Lookup:

Based on federal law, all sex offenders need to be registered in the state sex offender database and national sex offender database so that law enforcement can keep track of their movements in the interest of public safety. An individual who has a conviction for a sexually oriented offense such as rape, sex trafficking, and child pornography is called a sex offender. To get data on sex offenders in Salem County, you can visit the Sheriff’s Alert page. Bear in mind that there may be times that you will get last known addresses of offenders in your search results. This is caused by the non-compliance of some offenders with the registration law.

Bail and Bondsman

When charged with a crime in New Jersey, an individual may be granted temporary release from jail while awaiting trial depending on his score on a risk assessment tool. This is an algorithm that tries to calculate how much of a risk it will be to grant freedom to a pretrial inmate. A defendant with a high score will remain detained while his trial is pending because it means that he may be a flight risk or may commit another crime while out of jail. A defendant with a low score may be released with or without monitoring because he is less likely to run or harm the community.
