Sex Offender Search and Lookup:

Sex offenders are stipulated by law to register their information with local law enforcement to be recorded in the state sex offender database and the national sex offender database. A sex offender is defined as an individual who has a conviction for a sex offense such as rape, sexual assault, and incest. Visiting the Sheriff’s Alert page will enable anyone to locate sex offenders residing or working in Burlington County. Keep in mind that you may get search results showing last known addresses of offenders because not all of them comply with the law.

Bail and Bondsman

In New Jersey, the cash bail system is no longer used. Instead, a person charged with a crime will have his information – name, criminal history, etc. – entered in a risk assessment tool which will calculate how likely he would be to run away from his trial or harm the community. A high score will mean being detained while the defendant awaits trial. A low score will recommend that the person be released on his own recognizance and may or may not be monitored by the courts. The judge will then decide on whether to follow the recommendation provided based on arguments presented by the defense and the prosecutor, if any.
