Important Jail Policies and Procedures
Only video visits are allowed for inmates except for visits from attorneys, clergy, and other professionals. Video visitations, on-site and remote are limited to 30 minutes. Inmates are allowed two free kiosk visits each week; otherwise, it is $7.50 for 30 minutes for kiosk visits in the jail. Remote visits are also allowed, and it is $9.99 for 30 minutes. Inmates’ should inform their visitors when they are available to visit. Jail authorities may cancel scheduled visit for security purposes.

Individuals, who have been convicted of sex-crimes such as rape, prostitution, sexual assault, child pornography production and distribution of child pornography, molestation, indecent exposure, and sex trafficking are sex offenders. All sex offenders are required by law to be registered with state’s sex offender registry so that the state can monitor as well as impose restrictions on their activities. It’s a crime for sex offenders not to register themselves as sex offenders when they move into a new state or county. Bail and Bondsman
The bond’s purpose is to ensure that the suspect appears in court. If he/she fails to appear, the judge may impose fines and keep the bond as a penalty. In most cases, bonds are set by the judges. Inmates know how much their bail money is when they are booked into the jail. The amount of the bond is based on the charges for the person’s arrest. The bonds can be posted at the Douglas County Sheriff’s office 24 hours a day. Only cash or money orders will be accepted for bond payment. Credit or debit cards or checks will not be accepted. There is also a $10 fee for each posted bond.
