Bail and Bondsman

The money pledged to the court in exchange for the temporary release of a defendant who is awaiting trial from jail is known as bail. The money will be used to make sure that the defendant will show up in court. The money is returned minus fees once the trial is over as long as the defendant kept his word. If he didn’t, the court gets to keep the money.
