Marion County is located in northeastern Missouri. Its county seat is Palmyra, but Marion County also has a second County Courthouse located in Hannibal. The county was organized at the end of 1826 and named for General Francis Marion, also called the  “Swamp Fox”, who served in the American Revolutionary War. Only 2 onsite and 3 remote visits per week are allowed. Visit length is 20 minutes and maximum 3 persons can visit at a time. Out-of-town visitors traveling 100 miles or more are limited to 1 hour visit a month if they gain approval upon filling out an application form in advance.
