Important Jail Policies and Procedures:
The Jefferson Parish Correctional Center (JPCC) allows its inmates visitation rights.
Visitation is held:
Monday – Sunday: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Sunday: 8 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Each housing area has a different visitation time. Visitors should contact the Correctional Center at 504-374-7729, or 504-374-7730 to determine the proper visitation day and time.
Visitors’ must be named on the inmate’s visitation card. Each card allows the inmate to list 3 adults, and 3 children. The list of names on an inmate’s card is confidential information and will not be disseminated to anyone.
Visitors’ must provide a valid state driver’s license, state identification, passport or military identification card to visit. Children over the age of 13 are considered adults and must have a valid school identification card. No personal items are allowed. All visitors should be dressed appropriately. Visitors must enter the Correctional Center through the proper entrance and are subject to being searched.

Inmates may receive pictures except for Polaroid photos. No provocative or lewd images. Pictures that are not allowed will be disposed of.

An entry level corrections officer at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center is paid a yearly salary of $28,640. He is responsible for the care, custody and control of inmates in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. Some of the duties are monitoring inmate activities, ensuring the safety of inmates, and enforcing the jail’s rules and regulations.

Based on the state law, a sex offender must register with the State Police, the Sheriff’s Office and the local police department. Bail and Bondsman
The money pledged to the court by a defendant in order to remain free while waiting for his trial to start is known as bail. This is required by the court to help ensure that the defendant will fulfill all his court obligations once the trial starts. Failure to do so means forfeiting the money.
Defendants who cannot come up with enough money to post bail can acquire the services of a bondsman. A payment of 12% of the bail amount is required. This fee is non-refundable. Once hired, the bondsman will sign a bond to secure the defendant’s release. He also guarantees payment to the court if the defendant skips bail.
