Services and Responsibilities:
Criminal misdemeanor and civil cases are filed and maintained in the Clerk of State Court office. Each case is assigned a number and judge. Each criminal case could have more than one defendant and numerous charges. Each civil case could have numerous parties as plaintiff or defendant. The Solicitor General’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, private attorneys, plaintiffs or defendants will file all original documents pertaining to the case in the Clerk of State Court.
