The population of this county based on the records of the 2010 census was 150,865 and the county seat is Madera. The county was founded in 1893 which came from the southern area of Mariposa County. Madera means wood in Spanish and the county’s name originated from the log flume that California Lumber Company made. The total area of the county is 2,153 square miles.
