Contra Costa County Information

The total population of the county according to the census in 2010 was 1,049,025 and the county seat is Martinez. Concord and Richmond are the largest cities by population and area respectively. The meaning of the name is “opposite coast” in Spanish and was founded in 1850. The total area of the county is 804 square miles and the county office looks after its citizens by having active departments. These are attorney, auditor, Sheriff’s office, probation, and emergency management.

The office of the Sheriff give communities 150 years of dedicated service. Their aim is to give community policing which sums up their philosophy. It does not matter what challenges will exist in the future because the citizens of the county can be given a good quality of life.

County District Court

The operations of the Superior Court is the workhouse division of the office. It handles every day operations of all cases of felony in the courtroom. The district attorney is Dan Cabral and his office e-mail address is ERIC: best I can tell is Mark Peterson was the last DA and I can’t find that a new one has been named.  Apparently he resigned in the midst of some criminal accusations.  i didn’t delete Dan Cabral though, I don’t see his name in the history of the office:

There are three detention centers located in the county, Martinez Detention Facility, West County Detention Facility and Marsh Creek Detention Facility.  Visiting rules and regulations are documented here:

Up to four visitors may visit an inmate at one time and all visitors must be scheduled and enter the facility no later than 30 minutes prior to the end of any visiting block.  Registration of scheduled visitors will begin 30 minutes before the posted visiting time. Visitors are required to have their visit slip time stamped and in the tray 30 minutes prior to their visit.

West County Detention Facility:

Up to three visitors may visit an inmate at one time and all visitors must be scheduled and at the facility no later than 30 minutes prior to the end of any visiting block. Inmates are responsible for notifying the supervising Deputy Sheriff of the visit and report to the visiting area 15 minutes prior to the visit. Failure to follow these regulations will result in cancellation of the visit.
