Inmate Search in Salt Lake County Jail
The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office maintains a Weekly Arrest Report Online which is a database of individuals currently booked in the two jails operated by the department. To locate someone here, you can type in the individuals first and last name in the box provided or use the individuals’ booking number, permanent number, or state ID. Each inmate’s file shows his complete name, physical description, booking number, SO#, citizenship, place of birth, incarceration information (booking date, housing unit, etc.), alias information, bond information, and charge information.
Important Jail Policies and Procedures:
Inmates at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail and the Oxbow Jail are allowed one visit per visiting day, a maximum of 2 visits per week. In the Salt Lake County Metro Jail, a maximum of 3 visitors at a time is allowed. In the Oxbow Jail, only 2 visitors at a time are permitted. Children below 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Individuals aged 16 and above must show a valid government-issued ID.
Visits must be scheduled up to 7 days in advance by calling (385) 468-8400 or reserving a visit in person at the Visiting counter. Appointments must be made no later than 11pm the day before the desired slot. All visitors must arrive 45 minutes prior to the start of the visit. At Oxbow Jail, you must arrive at least 15 minutes before the visit.

You can deposit money into an inmate’s account by sending money orders, cash, or a certified/cashier’s check through the mail. These should be made out to the prisoner. Please include the prisoner number (SO#) which you can obtain by calling 385-468-8400.
You can also make a payment by dropping off money orders, cash, and certified or cashier’s checks at the Metro Jail from 8am through 3:30pm and 4pm to 11:30pm.

Federal law states that a sex offender must provide his information to local law enforcement for filing in the state sex offender registry and the national sex offender database. An individual is considered a sex offender if he has been found guilty of a sexually oriented crime such as sexual battery, voyeurism, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor. In Salt Lake County, you can search the Utah Sex Offender Registry to locate sex offenders in the area. Keep in mind that you must accept the terms and conditions of the registry before you can access the data. Also, you may encounter records that only have last known addresses listed.
Bail and Bondsman
The state courts of Utah are planning on putting into effect a new public safety assessment tool that will help judges determine if bail will be granted to a defendant as well as how much the amount should be. Contact a bonds agent if you are in need of any help with being granted temporary release from jail or in getting rid of warrant and obtaining a new court date.
