According to federal law, sex offenders must have their information recorded in the state and national sex offender registries. A person is considered a sex offender if he or she has been found guilty of a sexually oriented offense such as rape, child molestation, and prostitution. You can go to https://www.tn.gov/tbi/section/tennessee-sex-offender-registry to check for sex offenders living in your neighborhood in Robertson County. It is important to take note that not all offenders update their registration. You may encounter search results that reveal previous residential addresses of offenders. In some cases, you may also find incomplete entries such as just the block where an offender’s house is located.
Bail and Bondsman
Bail is the process that allows a charged individual to obtain his release from custody while awaiting his/her trial by paying a set amount of money to the court. This money will be held by the court for the duration of the trial to ensure the defendant’s compliance in appearing in court as required. If the defendant misses a court appearance, the money is forfeited.
If the defendant does not have enough money to post bail, a bondsman can be hired to do it on his behalf. A bondsman will typically charge 10% of the bond amount as his fee. This is not refundable.
