Visitation for DOC inmates at the Jackson Parish Correctional Center is held on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. A rotation schedule is followed for each dorm. Please get this information from the offender you are visiting as this varies from dorm to dorm.

Offenders are allowed to establish a visiting list of 10 people. If your name is not on this list, you will not be allowed to visit. This is the offender’s responsibility to put your name on the list. Changes to this list are allowed every three months.

Visitors must have a legible ID on their person in order to visit. Due to limited space during heavy visiting days, visits may be cancelled or postponed until space becomes available.

During visitation, offenders are allowed to exchange a brief hug and kiss with their visitor. Physical contact is limited to holding hands. The failure to comply with the rules may end in the termination of the visit.

Visitors are not allowed to bring an offender anything nor is an offender allowed to give a visitor anything, unless it is approved by the Warden prior to the visit. Such items will be confiscated and destroyed and the offender may be subject to disciplinary action.

Smoking and tobacco products are strictly prohibited. Special visits are considered on a limited case by case basis. These visits are approved by the Warden only.

To fund an inmate’s commissary account, you can mail postal money orders to the facility or give it to the security officers receiving visitors during visiting day. Cash and personal checks will not be accepted.

Bail and Bondsman

Bail is the deposit of money you give to the court to secure your release from jail while you await trial. The court holds the money to ensure that you follow through on all your court obligations. The money is handed back to you (minus court fees and fines) once the trial ends. If you miss a court appearance, the money is forfeited.

If you cannot afford to pay the bail on your own, you can secure the assistance of a bondsman. His fee is 12% of the bail amount and is non-refundable. In return, he will sign a bond securing your release and will be held responsible for paying the entire amount if you violate the conditions of your release.
