Working at Calcasieu Parish Jail or Sheriff’s Office:

The starting salary of a correctional officer in Calcasieu Parish is $32,100 a year. After one year and post-certification, the officer may be eligible for a $6000 State Supplemental pay. A correctional officer is responsible for overseeing inmate activities, inspecting inmate cells, and ensuring the safety and security of inmates in the facility.

To become a correctional officer in Calcasieu Parish, you must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or its equivalent as well as a valid driver’s license.
