Sex Offender Search and Lookup:

All sex offenders are ordered by the law to give their information to the local law enforcement that has jurisdiction over their place of residence. Their information is then entered into the state and national sex offender databases. Anyone can access sex offender information. Individuals who have been convicted of a sex crime are called sex offenders. Sex crimes are generally defined as illegal acts that involve sexual motivation such as rape, prostitution, and child pornography. Sex offenders in Kentucky are registered in the database found here.

You can use it to locate any offenders living near you. However, it is important to keep in mind that not all offenders comply with the law. There may be times when the information you access is no longer accurate. For example, you may get results that show last known addresses of sex offenders. In some cases, the information may be incomplete, only showing part of an offender’s address such as the block he lives on.

Bail and Bondsman

Bail is when an inmate awaiting trial is allowed to stay out of jail with the condition that he will present himself before the court whenever it is required. For certain crimes, bail may also mean the money or property that is pledged to the court to serve as a guarantee that the defendant will appear whenever he is called by the court such as during his trial. If he doesn’t, then the money or property will be forfeited.

If a defendant is unable to post bail because cannot raise enough money, a bondsman can serve as his surety for a fee. This means that if you hire a bondsman, who charges around 10% of the bail amount, then he will be the one held responsible by the court to pay the entire bail amount if you do not appear before the court as promised. The fee is non-refundable.

Practicing commercial bail bonding is prohibited in Kentucky. Ky. Stat. § 431.510 (outlawing commercial bail bond industry); see Stephens v. Bonding Assoc. of Kentucky, 538 S.W.2d 580 (Ky 1976) (upholding statute). Fugitives who have fled to Kentucky cannot be arrested by bondsmen from out of state without a warrant. Ky. Rev. Stat. § 440.270.
