Sex Offender Search and Lookup:
Federal law mandates that sex offenders must register their information with local law enforcement to be filed in the state sex offender registry and the national sex offender registry. A person is classified as a sex offender if he has been convicted of a sexual offense such as rape, sex trafficking, and child pornography. To locate sex offenders in White County, you can visit the Sheriff’s Alert page. Keep in mind that you may get search results showing last known addresses of offenders. This may be caused by the offender’s failure to update his information in the registry.
Bail and Bondsman
Bail is the money that a defendant signs over to the court’s keeping as a form of collateral. This is done to secure his temporary release from jail while awaiting trial. The court will return the money, minus fees, if the defendant fulfills all of his court obligations. If the defendant violates the conditions of his release, then the bail is forfeited.
A bondsman can help a defendant secure his release if he does not have enough money to do it on his own. The bondsman does this by signing a bond with the court, making him responsible for paying the entire amount should the defendant fail to appear as promised. The fee for such a service is usually 10% of the bail amount as his fee. This is non-refundable.
