Sex Offender Search and Lookup:
Federal law stipulates that, in the interest of public safety, sex offenders are to register their information with the state and national sex offender databases. An individual is classified as a sex offender if his conviction is for a sexually motivated crime such as rape, prostitution, and child pornography. Tennessee maintains a sex offender database here which is made accessible to the public. It is important to bear in mind that some search results may show previously known addresses of offenders due to the fact that not all of them comply with the law.
Bail and Bondsman
Bail is when a person charged with a crime is set free from custody or jail while awaiting trial as long as he promises to be present at all of his scheduled court appearances. Some types of bail require money or property to be pledged to the court to serve as an additional guarantee. The money or property is lost if the individual misses a court date.
If the defendant does not have enough money to post bail, he can hire a bondsman to secure his release. The bondsman will be made liable to the court for the entire bail amount if the defendant does not show up as promised. To hire a bondsman, the defendant must pay a non-refundable fee usually set at 10% of the bail amount.
