Service and Responsibilities:

The Circuit Court Clerk is the official record keeper for the courts responsible for filing for all criminal, juvenile court cases. The primary duty of the court clerk is to assist the Court judge in the execution of their judicial responsibilities by preparing and maintaining court records, collecting fees and fines, and processing paperwork. Besides, the Court Clerk tickets, arrest warrants, judgments, protection orders and other miscellaneous documents. On the other hand, the Fayette County General Sessions Court Clerk takes on the jurisdiction of the general session’s court clerk’s office including civil, contracts, landlord-tenant disputes, orders of protection, criminal misdemeanor offences, matters involving city, county, and state traffic offences. Besides, the General Session’s Court Clerk office also convenes the child support court.
