Sex Offender Search and Lookup:

An individual who has been convicted of a crime involving sexual misconduct such as sexual assault, incest, and sex trafficking is classified as a sex offender. Federal law stipulates that this kind of offender must be registered in the state sex offender database and national sex offender database. If you wish to access data on sex offenders in Somerset County, you can go to the Sheriff’s Alert website. Because some offenders do not comply with the law, you may get search results that only show the last known address of an offender.

Bail and Bondsman

The state of New Jersey has recently put into effect a new bail system. Instead of using cash, the court will make use of a risk assessment tool in determining whether to grant temporary release to a defendant who is awaiting trial. Using the defendant’s data which includes his criminal history, the tool will measure the likelihood of the defendant harming the community or failing to appear in court. A high score means a high likelihood of both those situations occurring which will result in the defendant remaining in custody. A low score recommends that the defendant be released because he is not likely to commit another crime while out or flee from the law.
