Surrounded on the western side by Washington and Oregon, on the north by British Columbia, Canada, on the east by Wyoming and Montana, and on the south by Nevada and Utah, Idaho is two times bigger than the combined six New England states. This state is a top tourist destination, drawing in an annual 20 million visitors because of its abundant outdoor attractions and lovely views of rivers, mountains, and lakes. There are more trout and potatoes produced in Idaho than any other state, and its exclusive production of more than 72 kinds of semi-precious and precious stones has earned it the nickname of the ‘Gem State’. The largest city of Idaho is Boise, which is also its capital city.

The 44 counties of Idaho have their own license plate prefixes that follow the county name’s first letter. The # 1 is given to a county that has the first letter. An example would be the counties Ada and Adam that both start with the letter A. Alphabetically, Ada goes before Adam so Ada is given the license prefix of ‘1A’ while Adam becomes ‘2A’. Originally, there were five counties in the Idaho Territory in March, 1863. In 1890, Idaho became a state, which paved the way for the creation of 18 counties. There was a creation of 21 additional counties between the years 1910 and 1920, bringing the total to 44.

The court system of Idaho is an efficient judicial system that is administered by the Supreme Court of Idaho. There are three levels in the state’s court system: the Supreme Court, which is the state’s highest court; the trial courts which are known as the ‘District Courts’ and include the Magistrate division as well; and the Court of Appeals.

Some searches show offenders incarcerated in the entire prison system including county jails and some only state prisons. Sometimes historical offender data is available and sometimes only current inmate records are listed. Youth and adult offenders are sometimes located on separate search portals.
