Important Jail Policies and Procedures
The Cherokee County Jail only allows video visitations. Both on-site and remote visitations are available. Visits should be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Each inmate is permitted one visit per day. All visitors must provide valid state or government issued photo identification (i.e. driver’s license, passports, etc.) prior to inmate visitation. Each visitation is limited to 15 minutes. Visitation is limited to two adults and two children only. On-site video visits are free, but remote visits require a fee. Individuals below 17 years of age will not be allowed for visit, unless he or she is accompanied by an adult. No personal belongings, food or drink is allowed in the visitation lobby. Visits can be denied or canceled without any notice for security or emergency situations.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Complete the admission forms of inmates being booked into the Adult Detention Center; Search incoming inmates, Record personal property taken from the inmate; Fingerprint and photographs the inmates to establish identification; Distribute meals to inmates; and ensure proper hygiene is maintained for all inmates through showers, cleaning of the unit and medical care.
2. Check cell doors and internal conditions at regular and irregular intervals to assure security, cell cleanliness, and inmate safety; Conduct random searches of inmates and assigned secure areas; Enforce inmate rules and regulations; Maintains records of daily activities in assigned areas, inmate movements through the facility; and prepare inmates for transportation to court on court days.

Sex Offender Search and Lookup
Any person convicted of sex-related crimes such as rape, prostitution, sexual assault, child pornography, sex trafficking, and sexual abuse is a sex offender. Sex offenders are required to get registered with the state or county’s sex offender register. Those who don’t register with the state may be charged with a felony.
Bail and Bondsman
Cash Bonds: Cash must be paid in the exact amount of the total bond. The Sheriff’s Office cannot make change.
Professional Bonds: A list of professional bonding companies with phone number is displayed on the electronic bulletin board in the lobby area.
Property Bonds: Individuals owning real estate in Cherokee County must bring their deed (warranty, executor’s, quit claim, or administrator’s, conveyance), current mortgage statement, paid tax receipt for the most recent year, and photo identification. Ail individuals on the deed must be present to secure property for a bond.
Approved Property Bonds: Individuals owning property in another county in Georgia may take their deed, paid tax receipt, and photo identification to the Sheriff Office in the county where the property is located and request an approved bond for Cherokee County. If approved, the bond paperwork must be delivered to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center in a sealed envelope.
A bond processing fee is assessed to all bonds in the amount of $20.00. Exact change is required.
