The population of the county is 34,895 according to the 2010 census and the county seat is Susanville. The county was founded in 1864 that came from the parts of Plumas and Shasta, which follows the two-day conflict called the “Sagebrush War.” The county was named after Peter Lassen, who was a Danish-American rancher and prospector, and the total area is 4,720 square miles.
