Crook County Wyoming Sheriff Overview

Crook County is positioned in northeastern Wyoming. Its county seat is Sundance. The third-least populous county was formed in 1888 from two separate portions, one of Albany County, and one of Laramie County. Crook County was named in honor of Brigadier General George Crook, a commander who took part in the Indian Wars.     The Crook County Sheriff’s Office is taking applications for the position of a Full-Time Dispatcher and keeps them on file for when the next position opens.

    Persons convicted of certain offenses need to register as sex offenders as soon as they are released from confinement or as soon as they have been sentenced. Local residents or anyone sentenced in another county now living locally in the Crook County must register in the residing county within three days. If an offender fails to register, he or she will be guilty of a felony which can be fined with a $1,000 fee or imprisonment for no more than five years, or both.
