Service and Responsibilities:

The Clerk of Court’s Office is the official custodian for court records, responsible for all court-related proceedings as well as providing administrative services for the circuit courts and general citizens of Wood County. In addition, the Clerk of Court’s Office also receives and disburses bail, fines, forfeitures, fees, and restitution as provided for by state statute of Wisconsin or upon order of the court. Services and Responsibilities:

The County Clerk for Wood County is an elected chief official, responsible for conducting all federal, state, county, local and school elections. Responsibilities include issuing marriage licenses, declarations of domestic partnerships, metal car license plates, timber cutting permits, and distributing the state dog licenses to local municipal treasurers. In addition, the Clerk’s Office also accepts applications for passports, files Farmland Preservation applications, receives claims and stores records for Wood County contracts and leases. Moreover, the County Clerk oversees the County Board of Supervisors taking responsibilities such; county board minutes, resolutions and ordinances are on file in this office, public notice of all agendas, minutes and ordinances, Property Valuation Statistical report and proceedings. Finally, the County Clerk’s Office also handles the county budget and taxes.
