Guadalupe County Information
The population in the county was 131,533 as of the 2010 census. Founded in 1846, the county was named for the Guadalupe River. The total area of the county is 715 square miles. The county seat is Seguin; however, the largest community is Schertz.

Once an agricultural community, in 1929, oil was discovered at the Darst Creek oilfield and within a single year, tenant farming and sharecropping made up an estimated 64 percent of the county’s farms. By 1982, retail trade, manufacturing and wholesale plus professional services comprised about 60 percent of the work force in the area.
