Service and Responsibilities:

The Hawkins County Circuit Court Clerk is responsible for the filing of civil cases, criminal cases, as well as serves as Juvenile Court Clerk and General Sessions Court. Besides, the Circuit Court Clerk is also in charge of handling civil jury trials, criminal jury trials and child support cases. Services and Responsibilities:

The Hawkins County Chancery Court is a court of equity/trial court where the debt or demand exceeds fifty dollars, and every matter of equitable cognizance above said amount is presumed to be within its inherent jurisdiction as a Court of Equity. The Chancery Court is responsible for collecting and distributing child support, collecting delinquent property taxes for the county and city, probates estates and administers conservatorships and investment of litigant funds paid into the court’s registry. Besides, the Chancery Court also takes on duties such as Chancery Court, docket maintenance, revenue management, maintenance of court minutes, official communication, and other miscellaneous court-associated duties. Further responsibilities include probate matters and collection of delinquent taxes.
