Visitation Policies:

  1. All visitors who are 18 years old or older shall be required to show a picture identification each time they visit. The forms of identification accepted by the NDOC – valid driver’s license from the state of residence, valid state photo identification card from the state of residence, valid military photo identification card, and valid passport.
  2. No inappropriate contact will be permitted in the visit hall. Only a closed mouth kiss and hug are allowed at the beginning and the end of the visit only.
  3. No gum or candy is permitted in the visit hall.
  4. Visitors are encouraged to call 24 hours in advance to make sure the inmate is still located at Ely State Prison and that their visiting days have not changed.
  5. Processing begins at 8:00 am and ends at 2:30 pm Processing will pause at 10:00 am for institutional count and resume after count clears.
  6. All visitors must sign in, have their hand stamped, and be cleared through the metal detector.
  7. All visitors and their vehicles are subject to search.
  8. Visiting hours are from 8:30 am until 2:45 pm for maximum and close custody inmates.
  9. Visiting hours are from 4:30 pm until 8:45 pm for minimum custody inmates on Saturday and Sunday.
  10. Inmate housed in the infirmary may be scheduled any day of the week but will visit behind glass.
  11. All visiting must confirm to A.R. 719, O.P. 719, and Ely State Prison Visiting Rules and Regulations.
