    Bail and Bail Bondsman

Massachusetts is one of 8 states that does not allow private commercial bail bonding. The remaining are Maine, Oregon, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Washington, D.C. When no other funding options are available to you, you may have to spend the time between hearing and trial in jail. Remaining in jail is at no cost to you, but if you are innocent it can be a traumatic experience you probably want to avoid. To avoid jail time, there are still options in states like Massachusetts.
