Sex Offender Search and Lookup:
A sex offender’s information must be registered in the state and national sex offender databases. These databases are available to the public to help increase safety and awareness. People who are called sex offenders are criminals who have been convicted of a sexually oriented offense such as rape, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. You can access the Kentucky sex offender registry to find any sex offenders living in your neighborhood. It is important, however, that users bear in mind that some results may be inaccurate as some offenders may fail to obey the law. Some addresses in the registry may no longer be accurate. In some cases, users may find incomplete addresses such as just a listing of the block an offender resides on.
Bail and Bondsman
Bail is the permission of the court that will allow an accused to stay out of jail while his trial hasn’t started yet. The permission comes with certain conditions. One is the promise to show up at all the defendant’s scheduled court appearances. The second one is a pledge of money or form of property to the court that will be forfeited if the defendant violates the first condition of his temporary release.
If a defendant is unable to find the money to post bail, a bondsman can be hired to pledge the money to the court on the defendant’s behalf. A bondsman will charge a fee, normally 10% of the bail amount, that cannot be refunded under any circumstances, even if the defendant is found innocent of the charges or if the charges were eventually dropped.
The commercial bail bond industry is illegal in the state of Kentucky. Ky. Stat. § 431.510 (outlawing commercial bail bond industry); see Stephens v. Bonding Assoc. of Kentucky, 538 S.W.2d 580 (Ky 1976) (upholding statute). Bondsmen who seek to arrest a bail jumper in the state are required to get a warrant. Ky. Rev. Stat. § 440.270.
