The Shelby County Jail is a 14 bed facility built in 1985. The jail processes approximately 400 – 450 inmates a year. The facility is maintained by certified staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Important Jail Policies and Procedures
All Inmates are allowed a maximum of three (3) visitors, maximum thirty (30) minutes each. Times may be shortened due to amount of visitors and jail population. Once visitor leaves the visitation, they will not be allowed to return to visit. All visitors will complete all information and sign the visitor registration sheet. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed visitation, unless accompanied by an adult. Children will not be left in the lobby area unattended, and will have to have adult supervision at all times. Dress Code will be enforced, and must be conservative in nature. NO see through clothing (lace, sheer, etc.), and NO low cut shirts.
Attorneys and Ministers will be allowed unlimited access provided the visit is at a reasonable hour
