Sex Offender Search and Lookup

A person who has been convicted of a crime involving sexual motivation such as rape, child pornography, and sex trafficking is classified as a sex offender. Such an offender is ordered by law to submit their information to be recorded in the state sex offender registry and the national sex offender registry. In Cook County, you can locate sex offenders residing in the neighborhood by going to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry. Bear in mind that some of your search results may show only the last known addresses of offenders. This is because some offenders may not update their registration.

Bail and Bondsman

The deposit of money placed in the court’s keeping in exchange for the temporary release of a defendant awaiting trial is called bail. This is used to help assure the court that the defendant will show up once the trial starts. If he fails to appear as promised, the court will keep the money and issue a warrant for his arrest.

If the defendant cannot pay the bond, a bondsman can be hired to act as a surety and post bail on his behalf. The cost of this kind of service is usually 10% of the bail. Unlike bail, however, the bond fee cannot be refunded.
