The Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Office performs a wide range of functions in county government. Primary functions include:
- Traffic: This department is responsible for all the details of your traffic ticket. From here you can make a payment, search your records and find the Traffic Safety School form.
- Criminal: This department is responsible for all criminal proceedings such as Misdemeanors, Felonies, DUI’s, Contempt of Court, Conservation, Local Ordinance Violations and Juvenile cases. Here you will be able to search your case and make payments.

Services and Responsibilities:
The County Clerk is the keeper of all county records. As Clerk to the County Board, the County Clerk attends the board’s monthly meetings and records the minutes. The descriptions of actions of the County Board are kept in the County Clerk’s office. Birth, Marriage, and Death records are also kept in the County Clerk’s office. In Effingham County, the County Clerk also serves as the County Recorder. The primary function of the Recorder’s Office is to file any transaction of property within the County. Furthermore, the County Clerk also serves as an Election Authority that oversees all Elections that occur within Effingham County, collects delinquent tax payments, and provides many other services.
