The Arizona State Prison Complex – Tucson is located in Tucson, Arizona, and can hold 4,358 inmates. This prison has mixed levels of security, ranging from Custody Level 2 to Custody Level 5. The prison opened in 1978. The facility is separated into nine units – Catalina, Cimarron, Complex Detention, Manzanita, Rincon Minors, Rincon, Santa Rita, Whetstone, and Winchester. The prison offers work opportunities to inmates, both on-site and off-site. Inmates are also offered educational and vocational programs, and approximately 30% of the inmates utilize these programs. A variety of treatment programs and self-improvement programs are also offered to inmates.

Visitation Policies:

Inmates must provide a list of visitors, if they choose to have visitors. Changes to this list may be made every 90 days. People who want to visit or receive calls from inmates must complete the Application to Visit an Inmate form. There is a one-time fee of $25 for a background check of those wanting to visit an inmate. The Warden has authority to approve visitors.

Visitors must sign in with the Visitation Office when they arrive for a visit. A visitor must provide a valid government-issued form of identification. Visitors must adhere to the dress code, and all visitors are subject to search. An inmate may visit with up to 6 people during each visitation. Visitors may not visit more than one inmate during visitation. Certain recreational activities are allowed in the contact visitation area. Visits may be contact or non-contact. Visitation may be suspended at any time.

Visitation is currently suspended due to COVID-19.

Non-contact visits are scheduled for Monday – Friday and are by appointment only. Appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Regular visitation is on Saturday and Sunday, in 4-hour blocks. Visitors must sign in and register before the visitation block.
